Fungal nails are a common problem in men and women. It is caused by a type of fungus called a dermatophyte. A topical antifungal treatment can be applied which may take one and a half years to clear the nail. This is because they are fungistatic which simply means it holds the fungus still till it grows out of the nail. This requires consistent and persistent
treating on a daily or weekly basis. Fungicidal treatments include oral medication or fungal nail laser treatment. Oral medication is relatively effective however it is associated with some risks. Laser nail treatment has a quick, effective, broad spectrum effect to fight fungus with little to no risk. We are happy to advise you on all available treatments.
